Funny Cartoon Animal- In Real Life!- Timon (Lion King)

Timon is not a cat. Nor is he a kat. He is also not a mirror. Rather, he is a meerkat.

Timon (The Lion King).png

Meerkats IN REAL LIFE

Meerkats are small burrowing animals, living in large underground networks with multiple entrances which they leave only during the day, except to avoid the heat of the afternoon.[32] They are very social creatures and they live in colonies together.[15] Animals in the same group groom each other regularly.[21] The alpha pair often scent-mark subordinates of the group to express their authority.[33] There may be up to 30 meerkats in a group.[15]
To look out for predators, one or more meerkats stand sentry, to warn others of approaching dangers.[34] When a predator is spotted, the meerkat performing as sentry gives a warning bark or whistle, and other members of the group run and hide in one of the many holes they have spread across their territory.[35]

Meerkats are primarily insectivores, but also eat other animals (lizardssnakesscorpionsspiderseggs, small mammalsmillipedescentipedes and, more rarely, small birds), plants and fungi (the desert truffle Kalaharituber pfeilii[18]). Meerkats are immune to certain types of venom, including the very strong venom of the scorpions of the Kalahari Desert.[19]

Funny Cartoon Animal- In Real Life!- Mickey Mouse

The most infamous mouse on the planet. Mickey Mouse made his first appearance in 1928's Steamboat Willie. Why he isn't called Willie the Mouse, the world will never know.

Rodents. Some keep them as pets. Pet mice aren't too terrible.

However, some can be a bit mechanical.

Funny Cartoon Animal- In Real Life!- Patrick Star (Starfish)

First of all, I'd like to make it clear that starfishes DO NOT come from otterspace.

Rather, starfish are marine invertebrates. That means they live in the ocean!
Despite the name, starfish are NOT fish. They do not have gills, scales, or fins like fish do and they move differently from fish. Fish propel themselves with their tails, starfish have tiny tube feet to help them move along.
Fromia monilis (Seastar).jpg
The five-armed varieties of starfish are the most well known. But, not all starfish have five arms. Some have many more. Take the sun star for example, it has up to 40 arms!

Patrick Star

You probably are somewhat aware of the lovable character Patrick Star. If you're not, have you been living under a rock or something? (It's funny because Patrick lives under a rock)

Patrick's most notable trait is his lack of common sense. Patrick is often getting himself and his best friend, SpongeBob SquarePants, into trouble.

Patrick Star Fun Fact!  (Stump your friends with this bit of information) Patrick is unemployed and a self-proclaimed expert in the "art of doing nothing".

Funny Cartoon Animal- In Real Life!- Crash Bandicoot

IconicCrash.jpg

Crash Bandicoot is one wild and crazy guy marsupial.

Crash Bandicoot, or simply Crash, is a title character and the primary protagonist of the Crash Bandicoot series. Introduced in the 1996 video game Crash Bandicoot, Crash is an Eastern Barred Bandicoot that was genetically enhanced by the series' primary antagonist Doctor Neo Cortex and was soon banished from Cortex's castle for his perceived unworthiness. Throughout the series, Crash acts as the opposition against Cortex and his schemes for world domination. While Crash has a number of offensive maneuvers at his disposal, his most distinctive technique is one in which he spins like a tornado at high speeds and knocks away anything that he strikes.

The Crash series has over 17 games, because there are 18 total!

Funny Cartoon Animal- In Real Life!- Pascal from Tangled

Today we examine Pascal from the hit Disney film 'Tangled'.

In the film, Pascal is Rapunzel's pet chameleon. Pascal is a caring creature. He is always near Rapunzel. He attempts to assist Rapunzel whenever she needs it. As such, he does various actions. Sometimes he does something funny to make Rapunzel laugh. Sometimes he tries to fight a villain. Thus, Pascal has a comedic side and a tough side. The following pictures will demonstrate these two opposing sides.

NOW. Time for some info about Chameleons, IN REAL LIFE!!!!

Chameleon, a tree-dwelling lizard having the ability to change color and to move each eye independently. The color change is involuntary, contrary to common belief, and is brought about by light, temperature, and nervous stimulation such as anger or fear. It is not related to the color of the substance on which the chameleon happens to be.
Under ordinary conditions, the rough skin of the chameleon is a dull brownish-green. Under stresses of fear or anger, the color changes to a vivid green; it turns brown or yellowish-gray in response to hunger, low temperatures, and strong sunlight. The males of some species may display a brilliant red dewlap (a loose fold of skin under the throat) during courtship or in combat.
About 90 species of chameleon are known. They are native to Africa, Spain, Madagascar, India, and Sri Lanka.

Funny Cartoon Animal- In Real Life!- Yogi Bear

This is my fourth entry in a series where I examine funny cartoon animals and their real live counterparts. Today, I will be examining Yogi Bear and contrasting him to real bears.

Yogi Bear is a fictional bear. He appears in animated cartoons created by Hanna-Barbera Productions. He made his debut in 1958 as a supporting character in The Huckleberry Hound Show. In January 1961, he was given his own show, The Yogi Bear Show.

Yogi's personality and mannerisms were based on a popular celebrity of the time. Art Carney's Ed Norton character onThe Honeymooners was said to be Yogi's inspiration. The plot of most of Yogi's cartoons centered on his antics in the fictional Jellystone Park, a takeoff on the famous Yellowstone National Park. Yogi, accompanied by his constant companion Boo-Boo Bear, would often try to steal picnic baskets from campers in the park, much to the displeasure of Park Ranger Smith.

Besides often speaking in rhyme, Yogi Bear had a number of catchphrases, including his pet name for picnic baskets ("pic-a-nic baskets") and his favorite self-promotion ("I'm smarter than the average bear!"), although he often overestimates his own cleverness.

REAL LIFE BEARS!

Bears. You don't want to mess with them.

Bears are mammals. They are classified as caniforms, or doglike carnivorans, there are only eight living species of bear, they are widespread, appearing in a wide variety of habitats throughout the Northern Hemisphere and partially in the Southern Hemisphere. Bears are found in the continents of North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.

Common characteristics of modern bears include a large body with stocky legs, a long snout, shaggy hair, plantigrade paws with five nonretractile claws, and a short tail. While the polar bear is mostly carnivorous and thegiant panda feeds almost entirely on bamboo, the remaining six species are omnivorous, with largely varied diets including both plants and animals.

Bears can be cute, as shown below.

  Vs.
But, don't mess with them. They can mess you up. Some species, such as the polar bear, American black bear, sloth bear and the brown bear, are dangerous to humans, especially in areas where they have become used to people. All bears are physically powerful and are likely capable of fatally attacking a person, but they, for the most part, are shy, are easily frightened and will avoid humans. Injuries caused by bears are rare, but are often widely reported. The danger that bears pose is often vastly exaggerated, in part by the human imagination. However, when a mother feels her cubs are threatened, she will behave ferociously. It is recommended to give all bears a wide berth because they are behaviorally unpredictable.

Funny Cartoon Animals- In Real Life!- Tasmanian Devil

In my third piece of the series, I will be looking at The Tasmanian Devil, often referred to as Taz, and the REAL LIFE  Tasmanian Devil.

Taz, is an animated cartoon character featured in the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes series of cartoons. Taz is generally portrayed as a dim-witted teenager-type with a notoriously short temper and little patience. He will eat anything and everything, with an appetite that seems to know no bounds. He is best known for his speech consisting mostly of grunts, growls and rasps, and his ability to spin and bite through just about anything. The first Taz cartoon was released in 1954.
The character was based on the real-life Tasmanian Devil, or more specifically its carnivorous nature and voracious appetite.  The most noticeable resemblance between the Australian marsupial and McKimson's creation is their ravenous appetites and crazed behavior.

The Tasmanian devil is a carnivorous marsupial. It is now found in the wild only in the Australian island state of Tasmania. The size of a small dog, it is currently the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world. It is characterised by its stocky and muscular build, black fur, pungent odour, extremely loud and disturbing screech, keen sense of smell, and ferocity when feeding. The Tasmanian devil's large head and neck allow it to generate the strongest bite per unit body mass of any living mammal, and it hunts prey and scavenges carrion as well as eating household products if humans are living nearby. Despite its rotund appearance, the devil is capable of surprising speed and endurance, and can climb trees and swim across rivers.
The Tasmanian Devil is listed as Endangered.

Although it is mean and one would be very stupid to try to pet them, they can be pretty cute!!

Funny Cartoon Animal- In Real Life!- Ms. Piggy

In my second piece of a series in which I will examine funny cartoon animals and thier real live counterparts, I will be examining Miss Piggy of the Muppets and regular Pigs.

Miss Piggy is a Muppet, whch is more or less a glorified Puppet. The Muppets were created by Jim Henson starting in 1954–55. The word Muppet  comes from a combonation of "Marionette" and "puppet".
Other famous Muppetes include , Fozzie Bear, Rizzo the Rat, Gonzo the Great and the great Kermit the Frog.

Miss Piggy is a femle pig with very nice hair. She is a pig who is convinced that she is destined for stardom, and that nothing is going to stand in her way. She presents a public face which is the essence of feminine charm, but can instantly fly into a violent rage whenever she thinks she has been insulted or thwarted. Kermit the Frog is often the target of her anger. When she isn't sending him flying through the air, she is often smothering him in (usually unwanted) kisses.

Here is a video of Miss Piggy in action.

REAL LIFE Pigs

Miss Piggy does not accuratley depict pigs, Most pigs do not have such long and luxurious hair. Very few pigs can sing. And I doubt, that there are many pigs attracted to frogs, but then again, the Mupets are a comdey TV show. Nonetheless, Pigs are pretty cool creatures.

With around 2 billion individuals alive at any time, the domesticated pig is one of the most numerous large mammals on the planet.

Long isolated from other pigs on the many islands of Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, pigs have evolved into many different species, including wild boar, bearded pigs, and warty pigs. Humans have introduced pigs into Australia, North and South America, and numerous islands, either accidentally as escaped domestic pigs which have gone feral, or as wild boar. These have typically adapted well, and are increasing in number and broadening their range outside human control.

Pigs are omnivores, which means that they consume both plants and animals. In the wild, they are foraging animals, primarily eating leaves, grasses, roots, fruits and flowers. In confinement pigs are fed mostly corn and soybean meal with a mixture of vitamins and minerals added to the diet.

Domesticated pigs are commonly raised as livestock by farmers for meat (generally called pork, hams, gammon or bacon), as well as for leather. Their bristly hairs are also used for brushes. Some breeds of pig, such as the Asian pot-bellied pig, are kept as pets.

The domestic pig was domesticated approximately 5,000 to 7,000 years ago. Pigs are intelligent and can be trained to perform numerous tasks and tricks. Recently, they have enjoyed a measure of popularity as house pets, particularly the dwarf breeds.

Funny Cartoon Animal- In Real Life!- Roadrunner.

I have decided to post some pictures of funny cartoon animals and their real counterparts.  In the first piece of the series, we will be taking a close look at Road Runner from Warner Bros.

In case you are unfamiliar with the cartoon, the plot revolves around Wile E. Coyote (Pictured Above) chasing Road Runner around. Wile E. Coyote utilizes various tactics in efforts to capture and subsequently eat Road Runner. These tactics often involve Wile using various pieces of technology, such as rockets and traps. Yet Wile's tactics are often thwarted by Road Runner's  natural speed and wits. Wile E. Coyote failed plans often lead to him enduring a painful experience, such as falling off of a cliff or falling victim to an explosion.

Here is a link to a clip of the two kooky characters.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5_4EZxb87A&feature=related

Far too few people know that in real life, the road runner is not so purple, not so large and not nearly as fast as the roadrunner depicted in the cartoon.

Wikipedia Attack- "Roadrunners can run at speeds of up to 20 miles per hour (32 km/h)[1] and generally prefer sprinting to flying. Roadrunners will fly to escape predators." "Roadrunner species generally range in size from 18 inches (46 cm) to 24 inches (61 cm) from tail to beak."

All in all, the road runner is still a beautiful creature and the Roadrunner character is pretty funny. Meep meep.
